This is a colorful tone-piece, slow in tempo, and orchestral in nature. Starting in piano, then progressing to woodwinds, finally reinforced in the brass, the intricate and angularly dramatic theme, constantly shifting in color and texture, spins out in an attractively harmonic fashion. No high trumpet range. No solos. No doubles. Optional parts for French horns (alternate parts for flugelhorns or tpt 5-6 provided), tuba, and percussion (mallets and hand-percussion).
