A Tribute To Reverend Tongue is an up-tempo blues 'small group' chart that features the tenor trombone throughout the entire chart. The concept behind this chart was to feature my friend and colleague Miguel Gomez, a virtuoso trombonist who had excellent command of the triple tonguing technique. So I wrote this chart for him. The introduction is a slow, thick, gospel feel with trombone fills over the top of the band, followed by several cadenzas into seven choruses of blues with horn riff backgrounds. There is a challenging tutti section. This chart is a definite crowd-pleaser.
