As recorded by the Oliver Nelson Orchestra, 'Heidi' is the 3rd movement of the Impressions of Berlin suite. A gorgeous solo feature for alto saxophone throughout, this piece builds from a quiet beginning to a very powerful point (a 'Bolero' type of tension as the piece develops) before it diminishes to a quiet ending. This 'edited' version is in a lower key, has a shorter solo section and simpler brass ranges, making it more playable for both the soloist and the ensemble while still maintaining the integrity of Oliver's beautiful ballad. 5-4-4-3
