Jazz Big Band Arrangement
This Shorty Rogers arrangement was written for the Terry Gibbs Dream Band in the late 1950s but it was not recorded. It was originally written around the Gershwin melody I Got Rhythm, but didn't contain any of the original tune in the arrangement. Many years later Terry wanted to use this arrangement for a Steve Allen 75th birthday concert (1997) but was not able to due to the cost of licensing the composition. So, he wrote a new melody to go with the arrangement. This melody, titled Here It Is, is based on 'Rhythm' changes. The tune is played as a duet between vibes and trumpet. For performance, if you wish, it would be easy to substitute any 'Rhythm' changes melody in place of this one. This also features a solo for piano. Ranges: Trumpet 1: to D6; Trombone 1: to B5
