Beschreibung:
Is it an unholy dessert? Maybe, but the title actually refers to the short-lived outfield combination of Angel Pagan and Felix Pie, active with the Chicago Cubs for a brief time. This straight ahead swinger was commissioned by Michael Prichard for the Bishop Heelan High School jazz band, Sioux City, Iowa. A happy sounding piece, this tune is mostly in either C or A flat major, making the improvisation accessible to developing players. Harmonic variety is achieved through clever use of diatonic passing chords and moving basslines, including an obvious tip of the hat to the Jackson Five. The saxophones get a lot of love in this one, including melodic material, a chorus-long soli, and some unison interjections in the shout chorus. Brass ranges are comfortable for high school or college musicians (lead trumpet to D, trombone 1 to A). Bass lines are written out, with chord symbols included. Piano part includes sample voicings throughout.soloists?ùchanges appear in alto 1, trumpet 2, trombone 1, and piano. A vamp section features tenor 1.Doubles?ùnone.5,4,4,G,P,B,D.Vibes..
