The Johnston (IA) High School Jazz Band commissioned this great swing chart for proficient groups in memory of legendary music educator Jack Oatts. Written to depict the character of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers from the late 1950's and early 1960's, the work requires an aggressive approach in order to faithfully capture the hard bop style.
