Beschreibung:
As recorded on John Daversa's 'Live at Catalina's', this is a traditional jazz blues with a bridge containing ample opportunities for improvising. After the melody is stated, there is a raucous seven-chorus saxophone soli that is later accompanied by a twelve-tone row in the trombones and trumpets, a major second part. After the sax soli, there is an open solo for Alto 1 with similar accompaniment. Then, Alto 2 solos over a 1/2 time feel (a la Ornette Coleman) before leading to a powerful shout chorus returning to regular time. This is followed by a drum solo that builds over an eight bar vamp, as instruments and musical components are gradually layered in. This chart enables many soloists an opportunity to play and stretch out. Highest note for lead trumpet is written high A. Key: F Blues.5,4,4,G,P,B,D.
