Senchuk's Flute Concerto is a three-movement tribute to a flute pedagogue and professional, Dr. Pamela Youngblood. Two fast-paced and rhythmic outer movements wrap around a slow, lyrical episode which features low flutes and chordal passages evoking the sound of an organ. (Other instruments are cued in, if low flutes are unavailable.) The final movement is spotlight on the virtuoso flute passages, all in an unusual 10/8 time signature (3+3+2+2).
