Flutist Robert Stallman was known throughout his career for his highly vocal approach to playing the flute. A consummate lover of opera and the voice, he dedicated his opera fantasy on Rossini's Semiramide to his wife Hannah Stallman in honor of their 37th wedding anniversary, premiering the fantasy for the first time in October of 2018. Shortly thereafter, Stallman became ill unexpectedly and passed away, but he leaves behind as part of his lasting musical legacy this Grand Fantasy, a love letter to that which he loved best - opera, the flute, and his wife. This piece is a virtuosic showstopper meant to impress - a perfect recital choice.
