As Ingrid Dingfelder, flute player and dedicacee (with pianist Rita Koors-Myers) of this Sonata No.3 for flute and piano relates, this piece, dated September 1973, is in fact a revised version of a work completed by the end of 1971 (as per her recital program dated February 13, 1972, in Morristown, N.J., USA).

Ingrid Dingfelder is a graduate of the Conservatory of Music in Duisburg, Germany, and she later studied with Jean-Pierre Rampal in France and Julius Baker in the U.S. She has been active as a soloist in recitals and with chamber orchestras and ensembles in Europe and U.S. where she lives.
