Una Cortina Translucida was originally conceived as the second movement of a collaborative work for flute and guitar, 'Voces lejanas de adentro' (Voices far from within), by Cathy Collinge Herrera and P. Brent Register. The three-movement composition premiered June 14, 2017 at the Penn's Woods Music Festival in State College, Pennsylvania.
