Reflections was composed in 1992. It was commissioned by Marc Fink, Professor of Oboe at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He premiered this three-movement work at the 1992 International Double Reed Society conference in Frankfurt, Germany.
The music is intended to loosely depict the pastoral scene of a solitary person sitting by an isolated pond. Although written for the oboe d’amore, Reflections may also be played on the oboe.
