Adolphus Hailstork makes use of the term BLatinx—a combination of Black and Latinx—in his new work L'Blatinx. This dissonant, blues-filled work is scored for a trio of C Trumpets, utilizes footstomping inspired by Black traditions from New Orleans, has a Mariachi feel, and uses Latin rhythms throughout. L'Blatinx is a 4-minute thriller equally appropriate for formal concerts and special occasions.
