Beschreibung:
When you hear the composer name Faure, you automatically think of the well-known French composer Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924). Much less well known is Jean-Baptiste Faure (1830 - 1914) who was a celebrated French operatic baritone and an art collector of great significance. Jean-Baptiste Faure also composed a number of classical songs.Of his compositions, two albums with songs in print were released. The best-known song creations from it are above all 'Crucifix vous qui pleurez', but also 'Les Rameaux', 'Sancta Maria' and 'The Palms'. 'Crucifix vous qui pleurez' ('Crucifix' or 'Crucifixus') became very popular and is recorded by Enrico Caruso, among others.
Italian arranger Gottfried Veit transcribed this song for a brass ensemble consisting of a flugelhorn (cornet), three trumpets, four horns, four trombones, tuba and timpani.
