Divertimento for 15 Winds is a five-movement work for brass instruments that follows the proven form of fast—slow—fast—slow—fast to create a well-balanced and satisfying musical journey. The thematic material is related throughout, as are several of the compositional devices. Basing the melodic elements on the half and whole step intervals, three note scale passages and inventive cannonic imitation, Nelhybel has woven a triumphant work whose rich texture is as much dependent on its rhythmic as its melodic material. Instrumentation: 5 Trumpets, 4 F Horns, 4 Trombones, 1 Euphonium and tuba.
