The famous German carol 'Es ist ein röesz endsprungen' was originally made by Frater Conradus between 1582 and 1588. Michael Prätorius partly revised and printed it in 1609.
The melody is from Alte Catholische Geistliche Kirchengesäng (K(o/ln, Germany 1599), harmonised by Prätorius when printed in 1609.
In 1894 Theodore Baker made his English translation of the carol.
