Beschreibung:
Johan Wagenaar (1862 -1941) was a Dutch composer and organist. His compositions include operas, cantatas, organ music, and orchestral works. The music of Hector Berlioz had a modest influence on his works, but a much more pronounced influence was Richard Strauss. Wagenaar only composed two works for soloists. One of these is the 'Larghetto' for Oboe and Small Orchestra. It was composed in 1934 (revised 1936) and dedicated to the dutch oboist Jaap Stotijn. Dutch arranger and oboist Marc Koninkx transcribed this 'Larghetto' for Oboe with accompaniment of a Wind Ensemble.
