Rock the Streets is a march based on a dialog between the winds and percussion. The piece is build up on ostinato figures, something that makes mastery of the individual parts easier and faster. The fact that the bass line and the percussion part are such an important part of the piece can be especially motivating for these instrument groups. The bar where percussion play small interludes can also be treated as small solos. The percussion can be expanded to include other instruments as longs as these play rhythms base don the percussion and bass line parts.
The melody appears in all instrument groups at one time or another during the piece. This gives the musicians a chance to listen for good balance between the melodic line and the accompaniment.
The 'Ready-Steady-Go'-series is directed at the practical problems experienced be beginning musicians. The pieces address the technical challenges which young musicians face during the earliest stages of their develoment. By mastering the pieces in this series, the beginner can take an important step on the road to begoming a more capable and creative musician.
All pieces in the 'Ready-Steady-Go'-series function acceptably with a minimum of flute, 2 clarinets, altosax, 2 cornets, trombone, tuba and percussion.
