This composition is dedicated to Anita Fogge, trumpet player in The Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces. The soloist alternate between trumpet and flugelhorn. The work is divided in two parts to highlight the different character of the instruments. First part, andante is for the flugelhorn while the second, allegro, is written for trumpet. 'sketches for Trumpet and Band' has a strong connection to Norwegian tradition both in style and sound but also thematically.
