Sketches of Pain was composed for Kristiansand Blaseensemble in 2005, and consists of a series of short movements exploring the same material in different ways. The title refers to the format of the piece - essentially a collection of sketches - as well as the artistic 'pain' of ideas that never develop into something more substantial.
