José Juventino Policarpo Rosas Cadenas (1868-1894) was a Mexican composer and violinist and was one of the best known Mexican composers of salon music. 'Sobre las Olas' (Over the Waves) is Rosas's best known work. It was first published in Mexico in 1888. It remains popular as a classic waltz, and has also found its way into 'New Orleans Jazz', 'Bluegrass Music', 'Country And Western' and 'Tejano'. Even nowadays 'Sobre las Olas' is often used for commercials, television and movies.
