Fun and profound, this piece offers early and late Classical styles with a modern touch in a playful atmosphere. Based on a melody written by young Beethoven, the tune is alternately played by a Children's Orchestra (woodwinds, reeds) and an Adult Orchestra (brass) who compete to see who can play it better. A third group (percussion) provides the tinny little machine that fades in and out as if it were cracking out of the music. The two orchestras gradually find a common ground and end together in harmony. An amusing novelty piece!
