The Cock was originally written as an arrangement for brassband for Norwegian band Eikanger-Bjorsvik Musikklag and their CD-release 'Light' in 1989.
I chose the Norwegian tune 'Hanen stend pa stabburshella' ('The Cock'), a tune which is widely used in Norway.
When the CD, conducted by Alan Whitington was released in 1990, the song was recognized as a folk tune. This is not correct as the music was written by Eilif Gulbranson (1897-1958).
However, the song is written in a typical Norwegian folk music style, here arranged in a modern style for concert band.
