Beschreibung:
In 1959 Ella Fitzgerald recorded a four disc set featuring the music of George and Ira Gershwin.
With 59 songs recorded and over 3 hours playing time it was a vast project but it paid off for Ella.
Ira Gershwin said upon hearing the result: 'I never knew how good our songs were until I heard Ella sing them.' It also won her a Grammy Award in 1960 for best vocal performance.
This arrangement was made for Eikanger-Bj(o/rsvik's (with soloist Grethe Tonheim)
Siddis Brass performance Art of the States back in 2002.
This was a chronological review of American entertainment music, starting with gospel and finishing with Pat Metheny, leaving Ella somewhere in the middle.
Grethe Tonheim is one of my favourite trombone players and a dear friend.
I thought she would be ideal as Eikanger's version of the immortal Ella Fitzgerald.
