A three-and-a-half-minute work for upper voices commissioned by Peterborough Voices with funding from Arts Council England. Frances-Hoad sets a text by Gregory Warren Wilson, who says of his poem: The jewel beyond price refers obliquely to those intuitions and uncertainties that occur to us while we are engaged in any creative enterprise. Picasso once said, If I knew what I was doing, what would be the point of doing it? For an artist, uncertainty can be beyond price. First performed by Peterborough Voices conducted by Will Prideaux on 17th June 2023 at Peterborough Cathedral as part of Peterborough International Women’s Choral Festival.
