In the same lineage of Hal Hopson's popular settings of J. S. Bach's 'Air on the G Stream' (1997's 'Lord, Have Mercy') and the subsequent 'Arioso' ('Bless the Lord, My Soul'), here is one of the most beautiful melodies Beethoven wrote - 'Adagio from Sonata Pathetique' (Opus 13) - adapted in an earnest choral style with tastefulness and passion. The use of organ in the accompaniment is an inspired twist, adding a freshness to the familiar tune, hitherto known as a piano work.
