Beschreibung:
Justorum Animae is an anthem for the offertory on the Feast of All Souls, scored for five voices. Written in 1607 by William Byrd, it has been edited by Barclay Squire and is presented here with aKeyboard reduction for rehearsal purposes.
William Byrd (c. 1540-1623) was an English renaissance composer who wrote several well-known works in both the Catholic and Anglican traditions, many of which are stillhighly popular today. He studied under Thomas Tallis at the Chapel Royal, before becoming Organist and Master of the Choristers at Lincoln. He later returned to the Chapel Royal as Gentleman and Organist.
