Song of the Earth is a new telling of the well-known story of The Emperor and the Nightingale. It is suitable for performers aged 9 - 18 and can be done as a dramatic cantata or a fully-staged piece. There are 11 songs - but the piece can be shortened a little or lengthened by the addition of dance or pentatonic interludes composed by the performers. The piece also lends itself to masks and puppets. Please be brave and adventurous with it - as with most fairy tales, it has lessons for us all!
