This sheet music is a 'Fred Waring Arrangement' originally published by Waring's own music publishing house and it is very much a period item, though one of rollicking energy and good humour. The traditional spiritual Dem Boneshas been arranged for male Voices TTBB with Piano, String Bass and Percussion. There are Percussion cues for the sounds of the various 'bones' to be played by the singers, as well as a pronunciation guide for dialect renderingsof the lyrics. Fred Waring was a bandleader, Choral director and choir trainer in the US for much of the 20th century. His Vocal groups, The Fred Waring Singers with his band The Pennsylvanians, were wildly popular, sellingmillions of records of songs like Battle Hymn of the Republic, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes and White Christmas.
