This collection of four poem settings was commissioned by and dedicated to the SINFONIA FOUNDATION for the Eighth Triennial Assembly of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, Kansas City, Missouri. It can be performed with accompaniment by 10 wind players (SC283AC) (3 Clarinets in Bb, Alto Clarinet in Eb, Bass Clarinet in Bb, 3 Horns in F, Euphonium, and Tuba) or two pianos (SC283CO- also vocal parts). Movements/Poems include: I. Sailors to Wives (Poem by Johnny Wink), II. Prayer- Eternal Father Strong to Save (Poem by William Whiting), III. The Spouter Inn (Hornpipe) from Melville, IV. And the Gathering of the Waters He Called Seas (Text from Nantucket Whaling Songs).
