Micha? Spisak completed the Three Preludes for flute and soprano, without lyrics in the February of 1953. Although it is only four and a half minutes long, the work was three years in the making. The interval between composing the first and subsequent parts can be tracked in music. The first prelude, which took two times longer than the other two is more diversified and resembles Spisak's Duetto Concertante for bassoon and viola. The two remaining preludes are very short, technically simple miniatures, clearly linked to the works of baroque composers. Despite of these differences, the preludes are linked by specific use of the soprano. It is deliberately noted in the score below the flute and the composer most often only uses a low and medium register of this voice. The first performance of the Three preludes took place in 1954 in Copenhagen.
