Written to sing along with his brother (the composer singing from the piano); the Schickele brothers have performed them to considerable acclaim at parties and assemblies; and for more than fifty years they have been the finale to the composer's song programs; first with David Schickele; and later with David Düsing. Songs from Shakespeare is recorded (with David Düsing) on the Telarc label.
