This is a musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's heartbreaking fairytale. It is written by Carl Davies with Libretto by Hiawyn Oram. This is a great school musical designed for Key stage 3+, it will capture the imagination of both staff and students alike. The scoring for the work can be flexible, either using just piano accompaniment, or incorporating student instrumentalists and percussion, allowing all performers to create a version suitable to local resources.
Instrumentation: optional obbligato (vln/fl/cl/asax) - perc: drumkit/thundersheet/tam-t/bell tree/tgl/ad lib Latin percussion (optional: timp/BD) - gtr - pno/synth - bass (string or electric). Obbligato parts: versions available for C instruments, Bb instruments and a single transposed part for vln, fl, cl and asax.
