In presenting this second set of Hymn Tune Preludes the composer has followed the principles adopted in previous volumes, in that the pieces, based on well known tunes, are intended to help fill the need forsimple and appropriate music to be played before the service.
As before, they have been kept well within the range of the average performer and can be played with or without pedals and, if necessary, on one manual.
Keys have been chosen to balance with the corresponding tunes as given in 'Hymns Ancient and Modern', 'The English Hynmnal', 'Songs of Praise', 'The Church Hymnary' and 'The Methodist Hymn Book'.
Registration is suggestedinoutline only, the details being left to the player's discretion.
