Noten von Erik Satie - Impressionist mit Narrenfreiheit
Éric Alfred Leslie Satie (*17. Mai 1866 in Honfleur, † 1. Juli 1925 in Paris), kurz Erik Satie, war ein französischer Komponist, der es -im Fahrwasser der Spätromantik, dem ihn umgebenden Impressionismus und dem Aufflackern des Expressionismus- verstand, sich und seiner Sicht auf die Musik treu zu bleiben und seinen ganz eigenen Stil zu kreieren und zu bewahren.
Man könnte Erik Satie als den Satiriker unter den Komponisten der Jahrhundertwende bezeichnen. Seine Stücke sind kurz, geradlinig und geradezu minimalistisch gehalten, um dafür umso längere und ins Dadaistische gehende Spielanweisungen und Überschriften zu erhalten. Hier persifliert Satie möglicherweise die in der Zeit aufkeimende Mode, den Interpreten statt herkömmlicher Anweisungen wie ›Adagio‹ oder ›Allegro moderato‹, ausführlichere Anweisungen wie ›Andante très expressif‹ und ›morendo jusq'à la fin‹ (›Sehr ausdrucksstarkes Andante‹ und ›Verhauchend bis zum Ende‹, aus Clair de lune von C. Debussy) oder ›Mouvement de Valse très modéré‹ (›Sehr moderater Walzersatz‹ aus Ma mère l'oye No. IV von M. Ravel) an die Hand zu geben.
Jedoch – bei Satie klingen Spielanweisungen dann so:
›Conseillez-vous soigneusement‹ (›Beraten Sie sich sorgfältig‹)
›De manière à obtenir un creux‹ (›Um eine Mulde zu erhalten›) oder
›Dans une saine supériorité‹ (›In gesunder Überlegenheit‹
[alle aus Gnossienne)]
Saties 7. Tanz aus Danses Gothique ist überschrieben mit: ›Par pitié pour les ivrognes, honteux, débauchés, imparfaits, désagréables et faussaires en tous genres‹, was sinngemäß mit ›Aus Mitleid mit den Trunkenbolden, beschämt, ausschweifend, unvollkommen, unangenehm und Fälschern aller Art‹ übersetzt werden kann.
Es finden sich aber auch nicht-ironisierte Kompositionen im Œuvre Saties. Neben seinen Klavierwerken brachte Satie drei Ballettmusiken und das Symphonische Drama Socrate heraus, sowie die Messe Messe des pauvres (›Armenmesse‹), weiters ein Stück für Violine und Klavier mit dem Titel Choses vues à Droite et à Gauche – sans lunettes (›Gesehenes rechts und links - ohne Brille‹), zudem einige Gesangswerke/Lieder.
