Die Filmmusik zu König der Löwen, Gladiator oder Fluch der Karibik kennt vermutlich jeder von uns. Sie alle stammen von demselben Komponisten: Hans Zimmer. Dieser gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Filmkomponisten unserer Zeit. Zimmer hat weit über 150 Filmmusiken komponiert und zahlreiche Auszeichnungen dafür erhalten.
Hans Zimmers Lebenslauf
Hans Florian Zimmer wird am 12. September 1957 in Frankfurt am Main geboren. Im Elternhaus wird ihm schon als Kind das Klavier spielen beigebracht. Das Abitur macht er auf dem Internat Hurtwood House in England, das heute als Talentschmiede der Londoner Theater-, Film- und Musikwelt gilt. Danach spielt er Keyboard in verschiedenen Bands wie The Buggles und wirkt in deren Musikvideo zum dem Song Video Killed the Radio Star am Modular-Synthesizer mit. Der Song und das Musikvideo sind so erfolgreich, dass der neue Musiksender MTV damit am 01. August 1981 sein Programm beginnt.Wie kam Hans Zimmer zur Filmmusik?
Hans Zimmer arbeitete im Londoner Studio Air Edel und komponiert dort Werbe- und Radio-Jingles. Hier lernt er den britischen Filmkomponisten Stanley Myers kennen, der ihn 1980 als persönlichen Assistenten einstellt. Er lernt viel von dem Filmkomponisten, unter anderem das Komponieren für Orchester.Durch die Berühmtheit von Stanley wird auch Zimmer allmählich bekannter, sodass er nun erste eigene kleine Aufträge für Filmkompositionen erhält. Mitte der 1980er Jahre gründen die beiden gemeinsam das Aufnahmestudio Lillie Yard. Hier beginnen sie erstmals, Orchestermusik mit elektronischen Klängen zu kombinieren. Dies soll später zum Markenzeichen von Hans Zimmer werden.
Erste Hollywood-Filmmusik: Rain Man
1989 ist es endlich soweit: Hans Zimmer darf seinen ersten Score für einen Hollywood Streifen komponieren. Barry Levinson engagiert Zimmer dafür, die Filmmusik zu seinem Film Rain Main zu schreiben. Für die Filmmusik entwirft Zimmer eine innovative Komposition von Orchester- und Synthesizer-Klängen. Er erschafft damit einen neuartigen Stil, Actionfilme zu vertonen. Obwohl es sich bei der Komposition um seine erste richtige Filmmusik handelt, wird das Stück ein Erfolg! Die Score wird sogar für einen Oscar nominiert.Der König der Löwen
Im Jahr 1995 klopft Walt Disney an Zimmers Tür: Hans Zimmer darf die Filmmusik für den Zeichentrickfilm Der König der Löwen (Originaltitel: The Lion King) komponieren! Die Songs liefern keine geringeren als Elton John und Tim Rice.
