Harold Arlen (1905–1986) war einer der produktivsten und erfolgreichsten Komponisten des Great American Songbook. Seine Melodien, oft mit Texten von Lyrikern wie E.Y. Harburg oder Johnny Mercer, sind zu unsterblichen Klassikern geworden. Weltberühmt wurde er durch den Song "Over the Rainbow" aus dem Film "Der Zauberer von Oz".
