Reiche Klangfülle mit Noten von John Williams
John Towner Williams (* 8. Februar 1932 in New York), kurz John Williams, gehört wohl unbestritten zu den größten Filmmusikkomponisten unserer Zeit.
Seit gut einem halben Jahrhundert schreibt John Williams die Scores für bisher mehr als 120 Kinofilme. Für fünf von ihnen erhielt Williams den Oscar in der Kategorie „Beste Musik"“ – Schindler's List ist einer davon. Für 24 weitere Filme gewann John Williams den Grammy Award, sowie zahlreiche weitere Auszeichnungen wie den British Academy Film Award oder den Emmy Award wurden ihm verliehen.
Doch alle Ehrungen und Auszeichnungen verraten nichts über die Kraft und Fülle seiner meist orchestralen Kompositionen; dies schafft nur John Williams' Musik selbst, am Besten mit einem Konzertabend für Highlights der Filmmusik. Das Notenmaterial dafür finden Sie bei uns!
Wer ist John Williams?
Man kann sagen, dass John Williams (der schon im Alter von drei Jahren das Notenlesen erlernte) eine musikalische Bilderbuchkarriere hinlegte: Mit 16 studierte Williams bereits Komposition an der Universität von Kalifornien, mit 18 Klavier an der renommierten Julliard School in New York, mit 19 erschien John Williams' erste Klaviersonate. Weitere klassische Werke folgten – und er begann für das Fernsehen und für Hollywood Musiken zu schreiben.John Williams – der Filmmusik-Komponist
Schließlich gelang John Williams der Durchbruch als Filmmusikkomponist mit den Filmen Die Höllenfahrt der Poseidon (1972) und dem Filmklassiker Der weiße Hai (1975). Den Meisten jedoch wird John Williams ein Begriff sein, die sich der Star Wars (Krieg der Sterne)-Trilogie verschrieben haben: John Williams war 45 Jahre alt, als er die Oscar-prämierte Musik zu dem Science-Fiction-Epos schrieb, die wohl für immer in die Geschichte der größten Filmmusiken aller Zeiten eingehen wird. Der The Imperial March (Der Marsch der Klonkrieger oder Darth Vader's Theme) wurde zum Inbegriff des Aufmarsches des Bösen und wird gerne in kritischen Momenten summend oder pfeifend zitiert.Große Regisseure wie George Lucas und Steven Spielberg gehören fortan zu seinen Auftraggebern. Daher wird es Sie nicht überraschen, dass auch die Themen aus Blockbustern wie Indiana Jones, Harry Potter oder E.T. – Der Außerirdische aus John Williams' Feder stammen.
Doch auch als Komponist für Ernste Musik tritt John Williams in Erscheinung. So gehören rund 20 Konzerte für verschiedene Soloinstrumente und Orchester zu seinem Œuvre. 20 weitere Werke zeigen in Teilen seine Loyalität und Vaterlandsliebe zu den Vereinigten Staaten auf: So komponierte John Williams beispielsweise 1986 die Liberty Fanfare zum 100jährigen Jubiläum der Freiheitsstatue in New York.
Und schließlich zeigt sich John Williams auch als Dirigent in der Öffentlichkeit, zuletzt im Jahr 2020 mit den Wiener Philharmonikern und im Jahr 2021 in Berlin mit den Berliner Philharmonikern.
