Beschreibung:
The Concertino* was written between 17th December 1966 and January 10th 1967 in Belmont, near Lausanne, a few months before the composer’s death. It is in three movements: Capriccio (5’30'), Recitativo (5’) and Perpetuum mobile (4’10').
It was first performed in the studios of Radio Lugano on May 8th 1967: Trumpet player and dedicacee Helmut Hunger was accompanied by the Orchestra of Radio Lugano, conducted by the composer.
The orchestration is: Solo trumpet, flute (+picc), oboe, 2 clarinets, bassoon, 2 horns, trumpet, trombone, percussion (timpani, triangle, side drum, xylophone, tam-tam, suspended cymbal), strings.
This work has been chosen as the set piece for the 43rd Geneva International Competition for Musical Performance 1987.
