Brass Quintet and Orchestra
The opportunity to mix flamenco with other music styles was very interesting. I was attracted by the melodic, harmonic and rhythmic characteristics of its differents ''palos'' or ''cantes''. The concertante style with an optional cadence for the quintet, gives an interesting background to develop the solist virtuosism, constantly combined with the different sections for the full orchestra. The original composition was a comission by the ''Institut Valencià de la Música'' for a symphonic band and brass quintet. The orchestral transcription was comissioned in 2008 by the famous quintet ''Spanish Brass - Luur Metalls'' wich is dedicated the work. J. Vicent Egea
