This humorous piece consists of a series of variations on 'Nick Nack Paddiwack'. Many of the variations refer in one way or another to other composers, among them Rossini, Arthur Benjamin, Mahler, Nielsen, Richard Strauss, Brahms, Bartok and Stravinsky. A recording of this suite is available on a Marco Polo CD of works by David Lyon, played by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia conducted by David Lloyd-Jones.
