What better way to startyour concert than with the National Anthem. So often the conductor just says 'The Queen in G', cues the timpanist and off we go with the orchestra 'busking it' with varying degrees of success! (On one occasion, just to see if we were awake [and some were not], the conductor called out 'The Queen - in Ab'; what followed was not the orchestra's best performance!!) Here then, is the solution if you want to play the National Anthem without leaving it to chance. This version will work with strings o nly if that is all you have.
