This is virtually the only part of Massenet's oratorio, La Vierge (TheVirgin), that is heard regularly today. Originally scored for strings alone, here it is 'opened out' to make it a vehicle for larger forces (and perhaps larger venues too) and to spare less experienced string players having to scale the highest regi ster of their instruments in places.
The solo cello part may be played by a violin, an oboe and a flute or a clarinet. It is cued into those parts.
Duration: 3 1/2 minutes
A PACK comprises one full score, string parts 4/4/3/4/2 and any wind, brass and percussion parts.
