This musical tale for string quintet and narrator is aimed at a young listening audience and, when expanded to full string orchestra, students at the end of the 2nd cycle in music schools. It thus has two objectives: the first is pure entertainment, the second pedagogical. The music of this tale is intentionally simple, colourful, direct and thoroughly accessible. It tries to remain as close as possible to the text whilst choosing such and such a place in the tale to show a character, a situation or a landscape to best advantage. The music sometimes fills the whole page like a large-scale image and sometimes allows the text time to take its full place. Parts and score for hire. Text in French.
