Orchestration: 2 Flutes (2nd db Piccolo), Oboe, 2 Clarinets in Bb and A, Bassoon, 2 Horns in F, 2 Trumpets in Bb, 3 Trombones, Timpani, Percussion (3 players: Tenor Drum, Snare Drum, Triangle, Tambourine, Tubular Bells, Glockenspiel, Xylophone), Harp, Strings (Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, Bass)
Old Christmas Music comprises arrangements of seasonal works from the sixteenth to the twentieth centuries, in particular featuring two carols by Peter Warlock, scored for strings alone:-
1. Anon. 16th Century: Gaudete (Duration 2 minutes);
2. Peter Warlock: The First Mercy (Duration 2 1/2 minutes);
3. French trad.: Bring a Torch (Duration 1 1/2 minutes);
4. Peter Warlock: Bethlehem Down (Duration 4 minutes);
5. Mykola Leontovych: Carol of the Bells (Duration 2 minutes)
A PACK comprises one full score, string parts 4/4/3/4/2 and all wind, brass and percussion parts.
