Zahlreiche moderne Arrangements garantieren jede Menge Spielspaß für die Schüler-Big Band und sind echte Highlights für die Zuhörer in Ihrem nächsten Konzert.
In dieser Reihe sind auch Sammelbände erschienen: First Year Charts Collection Vol. 1 und First Year Charts Collection Vol. 2.
Hier sind sieben repräsentative Beispiele aus der Serie ›First Year Charts‹:
- Somebody That I Used To Know von ›Gotye‹: Dieser geradlinige Rock-Groove ist fesselnd. Einfache Rhythmen, einfache Tonlagen und alle üblichen Alternativstimmen machen es genau richtig für junge Spieler. Kein Solo, nur Ensemble im Arrangement von Victor López.
- 13 O'Clock Jump von Zachary Smith: Ein swingender 13-Takt-Blues, mit einem lustigen Dreh im flotten Tempo. Mit Soli für Tenorsaxophon, Trompete, Posaune und einigen kurzen Schlagzeug-Fills sowie coolen Plunger-Mute-Abschnitten in den Blechbläsern! Eine Originalkomposition von Zachary Smith.
- Maynard & Waynard von Gordon Goodwin: Eine zugängliche und schwungvolle Version von Gordon Goodwins Big Phat Band-Charts für junge Spieler. Es gibt schöne Saxophon-Soli und der Tonumfang der ersten Trompete reicht bis zum geschriebenen G über dem Notensystem. Aus Gründen der Flexibilität ist für alle drei Trompetenstimmen ein 12-taktiges ausgeschriebenes Trompetensolo notiert. Optionale Teile enthalten. Arrangiert von Peter Blair.
- Poco Loco von Carl Strommen: Der Komponist & Arrangeur Carl Strommen hat bewiesen, dass er das Zeug dazu hat, für jüngere Bands zu schreiben. Dieses leichte und einfache Latin-Original beginnt einfach und baut sich dann spannend auf: Vielleicht erkennen Sie währenddessen die Akkordfolge des klassischen Popsongs »Sunny«. Die Cow Bell trägt dazu bei, die Energie und den Antrieb dieser Liste aufrechtzuerhalten, die Soli für Altsaxophon und Trompete sind ausnotiert (oder spontan) und die Blechbläser sind moderat. Auf Wunsch können weitere Percussion-Parts hinzugefügt werden. Die unteren Instrumente haben in diesem Chart einen einfachen, aber gehaltvollen Anteil. Das Endergebnis ist ein qualitativ hochwertiges Arrangement, das Spaß macht, lehrreich ist und beim Publikum gut ankommt. Eine Originalkomposition von Carl Strommen.
- It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing) von Duke Ellington: Dieser Duke Ellington-Klassiker liegt jetzt in einem sehr einfachen und spielbaren Arrangement des jungen Bandspezialisten Paul Cook vor. Paul hat es geschafft, dass die einfachen Level-Charts komplett richtig klingen und dennoch einfach zu spielen sind. Der Titel »It Don't Mean A Thing« ist eine ausgezeichnete Gelegenheit, diesen Stil jüngeren Schülern vorzustellen. Von oben bis unten solide!
- You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch (from ›How The Grinch Stole Christmas‹) von Albert Hague: Das ideale Feiertags-Chart für die junge Band. Leicht einzustudieren, eingängige und vertraute Melodie, einfache Soli, moderate Stimmlagen – wie könnte einem das nicht gefallen? Mike Story ist einer der besten Tonsetzer für Nachwuchs-Bands. Spielen Sie dieses Arrangement und Sie werden wissen, warum!
- Scarborough Fair – Traditional: Dieses Arrangement von »Scarborough Fair« aus der Feder von Terry White behandelt die berühmte Melodie in einem traditionellen, langsamen Rockstil. Es enthält ausnotierte Soli für Trompete 1 und Tenor 1, beide mit energischem Hintergrund, und eine Modulation in den Shout-Chor. Die Range der Trompete 1 reicht bis zum geschriebenen E-Oberraum. Genießen!
