Alle Noten der Serie 'Vocal Solo/Big Band' ('Jazz Vocal Series')
Alle Titel der Jazz Vocal Series (bei uns zusammengefasst unter dem Seriennamen Vocal Solo/Big Band) von Belwin Music sind für Big Band-Standardbesetzung mit Gesang arrangiert; die Gesangsstimme kann durch ein Tenorsaxophon ersetzt werden, zudem liegt der Vocal-Part oft in zwei Tonarten bei, je nach Stimmlage des Solisten.
Die Serie richtet sich an Nachwuchs-Jazz Bands, die bereits ein paar Jahre Erfahrung gesammelt haben und eine Jazzsängerin oder einen Jazzsänger featuren wollen.
Manche Arrangements geben sogar Jazz-Chören (sowohl gemischt, als auch Female) die Gelegenheit, den Big Band-Sound noch fetter zu machen.
Die Arrangements tragen folgende Merkmale:
- Feat. Vocal solos (manche Arrangements für SATB oder optional SSAA)
- Volle Instrumentation: 5 Saxophone, 8x Blech, 4 Rhythmus-Parts, Vocal-Solo-Part
- optional: Tenorsaxophon in B♭-Part (als Ersatz für den Vocal-Part)
- Soli sind teilweise ausnotiert.
- Rhythm Section Parts schlagen Chord Voicings und Rhythmen vor.
- Guitar Chord Frames zur Unterstützung junger Gitarristen.

Hier sind sechs repräsentative Beispiele aus der ›Jazz Vocal Series‹:
- How About You? von Burton Lane: Dieser Swing-Standard wurde vom großartigen Dave Wolpe in zwei Tonarten arrangiert – je nach Stimmlage des Sängers haben Sie die Wahl zwischen F (hoch) oder C (tief). Enthält zwei Partituren: Die verschiedenen Tonartenversionen befinden sich auf den Rückseiten der Stimmen; blättern Sie einfach um. Stimmumfang: Die Range der weiblichen (tiefen) Tonart reicht von A unter dem mittleren C bis zum zweiten Zwischenraum A. Der Tonumfang der männlichen (hohen) Tonart reicht von D unter der Notenzeile bis zur vierten Zeile D, Violinschlüssel. – (Grade 3)
- Moonlight Serenade (SATB, SSAA or Vocal Solo ) von Glenn Miller: Der Klassiker von Glenn Miller wird hier von Mike Carubia für eine vierstimmige Gesangsgruppe mit Jazzensemble arrangiert. Schöne und üppige (aber leicht zu singende) Harmonien sind das Markenzeichen dieses Glenn Miller-Evergreens. Das ist wahre Big-Band-Geschichte und eine großartige Gelegenheit, etwas über diese Ära zu lehren. Dieser Chart kann auch an eine SSAA-Gruppe oder einen Gesangssolisten angepasst werden. – (Grade 3)
- Willow Weep For Me von Ann Ronell: Ein Gesangsarrangement und eine langsame Swing-Ballade mit 70 BPM. Der Stimmumfang reicht von G unter dem mittleren C bis zum zweiten Raum As. Der Tonumfang der Lead-Trompete reicht bis zum notierten A und umfasst ein ausnotiertes Solo für Posaune 2 und optionale Lead-Parts für B-, Es- und Bassschlüssel-Instrumente. Tolle Melodie, schönes Arrangement von Vince Norman. – (Grade 3)
- Summer Wind von Johnny Mercer: »Summer Wind« wird der Hit bei jedem Gig sein. Diese vom Meisterarrangeur Dave Wolpe mit Klasse und Stil arrangierte Partitur ist ein einfacher Tempo-Swing in zwei Tonarten, der einen Gesangssolisten mit einem Jazz-Ensemble mit einem kurzen Tenorsaxophon-Solo präsentiert: Die hohe Tonart, die in Es beginnt (der Bereich reicht von B unter dem mittleren C bis zum vierten Raum in Es), und die tiefe Tonart, die in C beginnt (Bereich vom tiefen G unter dem mittleren C bis zum dritten Raum C). – (Grade 3,5)
- 'S Wonderful von George Gershwin: Dieses Chart ist wirklich wundervoll! Die Band bewegt sich in einem angenehmen Tempo voran und gibt dem Sänger durchgehend reichlich Unterstützung. Tenorsaxophon und Trompete spielen beide nach dem ersten Refrain solo und holen dann den Sänger zurück, um auf die ›Calls‹ der Band zu antworten – grandios! Typische Dave Wolpe-Magie! Tonart: As-Dur. – (Grade 4)
- As Time Goes By (SATB, SSAA or Vocal Solo) von Herman Hupfeld: Entstanden für ein Musical aus dem Jahre 1931 und berühmt geworden durch den Film ›Casablanca‹ holen Sie mit »As Time Goes By« die Stimmung und Emotion aus ›Rick's Café‹ in Ihren Jazz-Club. Arrangiert von Mike Carubia für Gemischte- oder Frauen-Vokalgruppe – oder einfach für Sologesang. Das Publikum wird es lieben und »Play it again!« rufen! – (Grade 4)
