Sir Hamilton Harty (1879-1941) was an Irish-born composer, conductor and pianist, who spentmost of his life working in Britain. He is best remembered for reviving the fortunes of the Halle Orchestra in Manchester during the 1920s. However, he also wrote many works of music, including a symphony, several arrangements ofHandel, dozens of songs, and chamber works. Most of these have been overlooked since his early death at the age of 61.
