Herbert Lincoln Clarke (1867 - 1945) is maybe the most famous American cornet players of all time.
He was member of 'The John Philip Sousa Band' , and was their cornet soloist for many years. He played trumpet in New York Philharmonic and later in The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
He made a large contribution to the solo literature for cornet / trumpet, and his numerous technical studies are still used.
